Who are you?
My name is Too Common.

What is it you do?
I am a rapper/producer and graphic designer from the East Yorkshire town of Goole, now living in Heaton.

How long have you been doing it?
I’ve been writing music/rapping for about 4 years now. I’ve only been producing for the past year or so and performing for about the same.

I studied Graphic Design at Uni before graduating in 2018. I now do freelance design work alongside my music.

What inspires you?
I’d say my family and friends are my biggest inspiration. It means a lot to me that my family are behind my music career. As for my friends, we have a team. I’m part of the NE Rising lot, where we now have our own record label (Park Avenue Records) and since we all live together, it means that we work on helping each other progress pretty much 24/7. We’re all creative in one way or another, now we have a great system in place which is starting to work. I also take a lot of inspiration from nature and the world, observations of current trends and my own life experiences. Music wise I listen to all sorts, I’m inspired by a lot of rock music and it’s use of metaphorical lyrics, Mac Miller has always been a huge inspiration to me alongside British artists Slowthai, Jaykae, the streets, A2 and more.

Tell us about your music.
My most recent track is Joshua Tree, produced by up and coming producer dreddibear (also part of our team). He’s produced a beautiful, summery garage beat with an uplifting vibe that will put a smile on anyone’s face.

I’ve laid down some smooth vocals and a catchy hook – which pretty much captures my thoughts and feelings during my ventures throughout lockdown. The past few months have taught me a lot. Cut people off who hold you down, learn from the people you have around you and keep an open mind as often as possible.

What have you got coming up in the future?
I’ve got a few more releases coming out before the end of the year. Two of these are collabs with newcomers Deekz and 40KAL. One of them is an old school Hip Hop/back to back vibe, produced by dreddibear. It’s our first track together and I can’t wait for people to here what we’ve created.

We’re also launching a studio, so keep an eye out for MLC Studios coming soon.

‘What we got?’ Featuring Deekz will hit streaming services September 25th.

Where can people find out more about you?
Spotify and Apple Music.
