Who are you and where are you from?
We are TALES, an alternative rock band from Newcastle (Sam on lead guitar, Colin on drums) and Sunderland (Michael on vocals/rhythm guitar, Elliott on bass/backing vocals).

What is it you do?
We play loud rock music. We have lots of fun doing it.

How long have you been doing it?
We formed in 2017, where we met at a Newcastle University house party. We initially played covers for fun before moving towards writing original material. Our first gig was at the O2 Academy 2 in 2018, since then we have played multiple venues in Tyne and Wear (The Cluny 2, Little Buildings, Think Tank amongst others) and recorded five songs with the incredible Kyle Martin at The Garage Studios in South Shields.

What inspires you?
We could name a hundred bands including Biffy Clyro, Pearl Jam, Muse, Foo Fighters, RHCP, IDLES etc; we could say that each other’s creative process inspires the band – but really our drive and creativity comes from wanting to write (mostly) loud songs that we enjoy playing live.

Tell us about your music.
We don’t like to be boxed into a particular sound. Each member draws inspiration from different genres, so we have an eclectic mix of sounds and songs – ranging from delicate melodies to heavy riff driven tunes. It keeps it interesting for us and for the listeners.

What have you got coming up in the future?
Our latest single Icarus is released on the 27th January on all streaming services.  It’s a progressive, thunderous anthem with some harmonious melodies. It’s canny. We can’t stop listening to it. Check it and some other bangers out at our next gig at Independent Sunderland with Fine Night Elements and New Fang.

Where can people find out more about you?
Find us on Spotify, Facebook, Instagram; plus any other streaming service you may use (not Tik Tok like).  Stop us in the street and say Hi.
