Reliably informed

Who are you and where are you from?
We’re Polyvinyl. Born and bred in the North East. Four of us are based in South Tyneside and our rhythm guitarist lives in the Toon.

What is it you do?
We write, record and perform music influenced by the 80s new wave era, but we like incorporating modern elements into our sound too. At least we think that’s what we do – our listeners might disagree!

How long have you been doing it?
Most of us met in school and we have been in various bands and ensembles since then, but we all came together in 2021, post-lockdown.

What inspires you?
Each of us is inspired by something different, which is a positive thing as we all have something to bring to the table. From 60s movies and modernist novels to garage rock revival and synth-pop,our ultimate goal is to tell stories and create something that excites us.

Tell us about your music.
We have recently released our very first single, It’s Raining Somewhere Else, which is a cathartic break-up song with driving riffs and energetic vocals.

When we’re writing songs, we like to bend genres and make quite dramatic departures from whatever we might have created previously, to keep things fresh and exciting for both the band and the listener (hopefully!).

That is definitely true for the next single which we are set to record in August. Our second single will be a hell of a lot heavier.

What have you got coming up in the future?
We’re looking forward to playing more gigs throughout the North East in the coming months as we get such a buzz from playing live – we are performers at heart.

Seeing how the crowd responds to certain numbers is often a good indicator of which song we would like to record next.

As always, we are itching to get back into the studio and we will hopefully be releasing our very first EP in the not-so-distant future.

Where can people find out more about you?
Check out @polyvinylband on Facebook and Instagram to keep up-to-date with upcoming gigs and track releases.

After July 29th, you will be able to find us on all major streaming services and platforms.
