Who are you and where are you from?
We are Lost Lot and we are an alt-country band made up of members from across the North East. Matt & Jamie are from Northumberland, Ben is from Newcastle and Scott is from North Shields via Norfolk.
What is it you do?
We play emotionally driven songs about love, loss, hope and heartbreak.
How long have you been doing it?
We have been playing as a band for quite a few years now but we only became Lost Lot at the end of 2022. We were formally known as Matt Dunbar & The Autonomous Collective
We decided to change names as it became more than just a backing band for Matt’s stuff. We wanted to acknowledge the facts that are all part of the creative process.
What inspires you?
Most of the songs are inspired by our own experiences, whether it be people that we meet or situations that we have been through.
Musically we are influenced by artists like Jason Isbell, Wilco and Kathleen Edwards. Aside from that we are most inspired when we are in a room together, we feed off of each other and create our best work then.
Tell us about your music.
Our music probably falls into the ‘Alt Country’ genre but we are influenced by a range of different artists. We like to write emotionally driven songs with memorable choruses, because if you can’t sing along, then what are we playing for?!
What have you got coming up in the future?
Our third single Ghost is released on the 15th September, it is a song about leaving a voicemail on the phone of someone that has passed away. This comes from our self-titled debut EP which comes out on the 27th October.
We will be celebrating this with a launch gig at The Common Room in Newcastle along with special guests India Arkin and Detroit Tourist Board.
