We catch up with the Durham-based singer-songwriter ahead of the release of his fourth album, Piece (out 29th August)
Who are you and where are you from? / What is it you do? /How long have you been doing it?
Hi there, my name is Jonathan Honour and I’m from county Durham, born and Bred. I’ve been singing and writing my own material for over 20 years now.
What inspires you?
My main inspiration for music is my battle with mental health problems where music is the main solace,my dissatisfaction with politics, becoming a father and feeling like an outsider in many circles fuel my desire to create.
Tell us about your music.
My fourth album is called Piece and is due to be released on August 29th. This album features far more of my keyboard playing and harmonica playing than In my previous efforts. As always, I try to write good melodies with hooks and good lyrics that people could relate to. I’ve gone for a far lighter touch with this album than many of my previous punk leanings.
What have you got coming up in the future?
My next gigs are at Honest boy Washington on 26th August and the Cumberland Arms Bishop Auckland on 23th September.
Where can people find out more about you?
You can follow me on Facebook and Instagram and hear my original recordings on digital platforms such as Spotify and YouTube.
