Who are you?
My name is Jen Dixon, I’m a singer songwriter from Marske by the Sea, Teesside.

What is it you do?
I mostly sing, play guitar and drums. I write, record and produce my own original music.

How long have you been doing it?
I started playing drums when I was 11 and played in numerous bands up until a few years ago. I studied music and sound engineering at college/university. Whilst I was at university I taught myself guitar and started to attend open mic nights a few years later. I started writing and producing my own music in March 2020. My first single, ‘Falling into You’, was released in October 2020.

What inspires you?
Everyday life! Music is an outlet. Everyday experiences, moods, and challenges inspire me to write music. I try to write about things that are relatable, and hope that people listening are able to connect with it.

Tell us about your music.
Thought provoking indie pop, focusing on big vocals and hard hitting choruses. Music for those emotional days, where you just need a big cup of tea. I’ve released 3 singles since October, all have progressed my sound and I try to make each track slightly different.

What have you got coming up?
Actual gigs! I had my first originals gig in May and I’ve got numerous gigs booked across the Teesside area. I’m hoping to get some gigs further afield, and maybe get a band behind me for those bigger venues. I also plan on finishing my debut EP before the end of the year.
