Who are you and where are you from?
We’re an original four-piece band from various towns across the North East, we hail from Chester-le-Street, Gateshead and Northumberland. Our lineup is Kristian Whatcott on Vocals, Guitar and Keys, Ethan Iveson on Lead Guitar, Richard Young on Bass and Luke Robson on Drums

What is it you do?
We create original music, mainly in the indie and alternative-rock genre, but we try not to box ourselves into a particular genre or category and just go where the songwriting takes us!

How long have you been doing it?
For a while it was just the three of us jamming on various ideas until Luke joined on drums about a year ago. Since then we’ve started to record our first singles and started to play gigs in the region.

What inspires you?
A lot of the songs come from life experiences, as well as finding inspiration from current affairs happening in the world. Something will happen and we’ll reflect on a situation, and find lyrics and sound from that emotional place, whether that be happiness, sadness, anger etc. Musically we all have our own individual inspirations, from 80’s music through to Modern Indie, Alternative Rock, Punk, Prog Rock and even Psychedelic music.

Tell us about your music.
We currently have around fifteen songs that are fully fleshed out and we’re happy with, but we are constantly finding more inspiration, and hunting for new songs and ideas all the time.

Stylistically we tend to find that our music has a more raw feel, with deep basslines and reverb-driven guitar tones, though we are still very much in the process of finding our distinct sound. Our first few released singles most definitely have that raw, ‘live’ sound.

One of these songs was played on BBC Radio Newcastle and Amazing Radio earlier this year, we’re hoping to do the same for future releases too!

What have you got coming up in the future?
For us, 2022 is all about setting up a foundation to build upon. Getting some of our tracks onto all the major music streaming platforms as well as the radio. This is all while playing great, independent venues with strong ties to the local music scene, to gain experience playing live and to meet other local bands. We sold out Head of Steam in central Newcastle back in June and have ‘Little Buildings’ in Ouseburn on the first of October. We also have a headline gig at Independent in Sunderland December this year.

Next year our targets are to record and release more songs, to try to get on the bill for as many festivals as possible, and to play plenty of more gigs!

Where can people find out more about you?
We’re on all the socials, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Tik tok. Just look up ‘Fine Night Elements’ and you should find us there! We’re really lucky to have a great content creator on board, Erica Fraser. She helps us out with our social media posts as well as the band artwork, and helps get the message out about us!
