We find out all we can about North East indie psych rockers End Credits ahead of the release of their new EP
Proudly DIY, North East indie psych rock quartet End Credits enjoyed success for last year’s debut album The Traveller, notching up over 15k streams for the Nil By Mouth released album. Preparing this month to release a new EP featuring demo versions of Traveller and Message to the Floor, which featured on the album, as well as brand new track Forsythia, the band will be performing at KU in Stockton on Friday 13th October and The Bunker, Sunderland on Saturday 14th October. Here, we find out all we can about the four-piece…
Who are you and where are you from?
Hey! We’re a four piece band called End Credits from the North East of England. Our line-up consists of Cameron (singer, guitar), Eddy (drums), Blaise (bass) and Adam (guitar).
What is it you do?
We write, record and produce our own music through our drummer, Eddy, as well as play all around the North East and more recently the UK as a whole! We do all this with the hopes of sharing our music with as many people as possible and living out our dream.
How long have you been doing it?
We have been a band for around 5 years, starting in 2018 when we were only 14-15. Beginning as a three-piece before quickly adding Adam to our roster, we began gigging in our hometown of Billingham to pubs and clubs in the area playing as a covers act mostly which, over time, we began adding our original tracks too.
What inspires you?
Separately, we could all give our one answer and definition to the question, however it’s clear what inspires us as a whole is music itself. We all grew up with music being a core part of our upbringing and to picture a life without it would be a life not worth living. And so, to be able to create something we can call our own and share it with everyone we meet either online or on stage is truly inspiring and is something we plan to do for as long as we can.
Tell us about your music
Our music is considered quite diverse. Track to track, the songs leap genres and styles which still stands to this day and can make it hard to pinpoint where we fit in. This comes from how varied we are from one another in our influences with a metal drummer, a prog rock/metal bassist, an experimental guitarist and a 70s psychedelia-inspired vocalist. Right now, we have our debut album The Traveller out which is a ten track accumulation of what has been mentioned, be sure to go check it out!
What have you got coming up in the future?
As a follow up to our debut album we have a B Sides & Demos release coming out on 13th October which will feature a brand new track Forsythia, which is a song we left off the album. The track shows a small reflection of our heavier influences with a stoner/prog rock sound, drawing inspiration from bands such as Tool and Stoned Jesus.
The reason the track wasn’t featured on the album was due to the band wanting to release it on vinyl at the Press On Vinyl factory that’s opened in our home of Teesside. The limitations of how many minutes each side could feature meant we had to remove one track in order to do so and that track ended up being Forsythia. Unfortunately, we ultimately didn’t go through with the vinyl pressings for multiple reasons. After not releasing anything in nearly 10 months, we’ve finally re-recorded the track at a much higher standard than ever before and are now ready to release the B Side & Demos.
