Who are you and where are you from?
We are Collapse of Colour, a four-piece melodic metalcore band from the North East of England. We have members in Newton Aycliffe, Darlington, Acklam and Skelton. So a bit all over the place. We practice at Lorne Street Studios in Middlesbrough though, so we call this our “home”.

Members:
Evan Jones – Lead Vocals
Jack Zelenka – Guitar/Vocals
Daniel Summers – Bass
Tom Wilson – Drums

What is it you do?
We write and perform emotional heavy music!

How long have you been doing it?
Collapse of Colour formed right at the end of 2017. Evan, Dan and Tom had already formed the band and were working on ideas. They then found Jack on an online musician’s forum to complete the lineup. After that we took some time to build up a catalogue of songs and debuted live at the end of 2018, in Manchester oddly enough.

What inspires you?
Individually we all have very different inspirations and drives for doing this, both on a personal level and a musical level. Evan is very much the performer of the group, using live shows as a form of catharsis from the pent-up emotions and stresses of daily life. Dan and Jack however are inspired more by the musical side of things, being able to express themselves through the music and using that as an emotional outlet. Tom just loves to play drums to be honest!

Tell us about your music.
We describe our sound as “Melodic Metalcore”. You can get lost in the minefield of genres and subgenres forever, so to sum up, we make heavy music that is also unashamedly catchy and melodic. We almost thrive on the ability to have soft delicate sections juxtaposed with brutal heavy sections whilst still sounding cohesive. It’s not a new concept at all but we believe this flexibility combined with our sincere approach to songwriting makes for something just a little bit different.

What have you got coming up in the future?
We have plenty of shows in the local area coming up over the next few months including our first ever headline show which we’re really excited for. It’s going to be great playing our new single Consume live. It should be a real crowd-pleaser. Overall, we don’t want to give away all of our secrets, but we are aiming to be much more prolific with releases than we have been in the past so expect new music on the horizon fairly soon.
