Who are you and where are you from?
Anth Wilson from Whitley Bay and living in North Shields. Chops is my nickname – I just changed the S for a 5 on the end instead for some reason!

What is it you do?
I produce electronic music, twiddle knobs on synths and sample bits and bobs. I spend a lot of time troubleshooting why my synths aren’t doing what they are supposed to, only to find I haven’t plugged a MIDI cable in.

I’ve a couple of projects, my own music I am releasing under the Chop5 name and the music I do with my friend and bandmate Matt Raynor is released as You Are The Dead name.

How long have you been doing it?
I’ve been dabbling with synths and samplers for the past 20 odd years but it has only been in the past 4 years or so that I’ve really started working on the production side of things, I’m learning all the time but I think I’m getting there.

What inspires you?
A lot of electronic music from the 90s, nature and a few musician/producer friends to bounce ideas off. I am a sucker for a bit of Sci-Fi and secretly play World of Warcraft!

Tell us about your music.
The music I’m producing at the moment is a bit of a mixture, there’s elements of techno, deep house, acid and goa trance in there, a bit retro maybe?  It’s very dance-able but not too full on, I try to get a good hook or melody in there along with a funky bassline. A lot of it I have had written for a while and have a load of ideas that I’m working on, I’m sure everyone who produces music is the same!

What have you got coming up in the future?
I’ve got a few tracks coming out over the next few months, all of which have an upbeat, positive, summery vibe to them, I think we all need a bit of that at the moment.

After that I’ve got some harder techno stuff lined up for release along with some industrial music along the lines of Ministry and Revolting Cocks, that’ll be released as You Are The Dead.  The plan is to work on some more releases and get back into doing some live shows at some point, I’ll have to work on trimming down the synth rig for that first though!

Where can people find out more about you?
On Instagram and Facebook. On my Soundcloud page I have some works in progress and synth jams.
