Who are you and where are you from?
My names aReM, or Reece if you know me personally. I’m from Thornaby

What is it you do?
I produce music, I started off making hip hop beats for local rappers but recently I’ve started getting into more electronic/ Future garage type tunes.

How long have you been doing it?
I started “rapping” when I was like 14 with Jister, but then PROJ-DRK got me into producing when I was like 15/16ish.

What inspires you?
Artists like burial, Flying Lotus, Bonobo, and J-Dilla are some of my biggest inspirations artist-wise, and I just want to be able to make people feel the same way with my music, as I do with the artists I listen to.

Tell us about your music.
For the longest time I’ve been producing “Hip -Hop” Beats, Sampling popular tunes and putting my own spin on them, but the problem with rap beats is that they aren’t complete without vocals and people just weren’t using my beats to rap over. So recently I’ve steered away from making rap beats and gone down the path of experimental sort of garage/ breakbeat tunes and I’m having much more fun doing it!

What have you got coming up in the future?
I’ve got two singles pretty much ready for release. The first one is called Run – a nice mellow tune with a haunting, majestic vocal sample I found from some kid singing on TikTok, and the other I’m just adding some finishing touches before prepping for release. I feel I’m finding my sound more and more with every tune I make, and each time they get closer to embodying the style I’m aiming for.
