Newcomer Andrew Cushin releases his debut single, It’s Gonna Get Better ahead of his sellout headline show at The Cluny on 7th March. We find out more about the Geordie singer-songwriter.

Who are you?
I am a 20-year-old lad from Newcastle Upon Tyne… and that’s about it.

What is it you do?
I write my own songs and chant them up and down the country wearing Stone Island jackets and Adidas trainers.

How long have you been doing it?
My first gig was almost 18 months ago now, however, I’ve been playing and writing my own stuff from the age of 16!

What inspires you?
Seeing what other artists such as Paul Weller and Noel Gallagher have achieved due to music and seeing the effect their songs have on people.

Tell us about your music.
Storytelling, 80% of my songs all include an aspect or a cut out of my life, some songs people can relate to, other songs you just sit back and have a good cry really.

What have you got coming up in the future?
I have 30 + festivals booked, another single to come out, a couple of new pairs of trainers to buy and a few dodgy haircuts to rock.

Where can people find out more about you?
I am fortunate enough now to be able to be Googled so you can pretty much find out everything you need to know about me on there, obviously the good old socials… Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc, as well as Spotify and YouTube. Everything under ‘Andrew Cushin’ which is my name.
