Who are you?
Abel Raise The Cain

What is it you do?
We make heartfelt music, ‘Symphonies of a broken heart’ with occasional speckles of energetic, experimental angst.

How long have you been doing it?
We have been around for quite a while now, our first release was in 2012, I guess you could say we are veterans of the local music scene cause when I think back to all the other bands who were on the scene at that time there’s not very many of them left sadly.

What inspires you?
Creating inspires us to continue making new music. Creating something new from nothing and getting in a room with your friends to take a spark of an idea through the writing process from a glimmer to a fully finished song is addictive and a constant driver.

Other artists’ music is also massively inspiring, I think everyone of us takes a little influence from our favourite bands and brings it to the mix.

Tell us about your music.
We have been on the local music scene for quite a while now, we have previously released an album named ‘For Strangers Only’ back in 2017.

This single ‘Baptism Of Fire’ is the second one to be taken off our as yet unnamed follow up album. This song along with our last release which is a song called ‘Shock’ are both faster, more aggressive and grittier than what we would usually put out, we just wanted to do something a bit different and showcase some variety. We’ve always been known for slower, more tender and building songs but we can also crank the distortion and angst a bit and do it the other way too if it takes our fancy.

It’s an idea that’s been kicking a round quite a while and there have been more than one version of it over the years but it’s never really seen the light of day properly and never been released before. It makes heavy use of a sample of audio from an American TV news channels interview with one of the most notorious cult leaders of all time, Charles Manson, leader of the Manson family cult. His answers to the Interviewers questions form the verses of the song and we just made the music to accompany his outlandish and strange responses, the only vocals on it in a traditional sense are on the chorus and the buildup.

What have you got coming up in the future?
We intend to be really busy this year. We have been a bit infrequent with releases in the past for a variety of reasons but we aim to release a new single every six weeks this year leading upto the release of our first album since 2017, at the end of the year.

Obviously on the live side plans are limited at the moment due to Covid but we would love to get out and do some gigs, ‘restrictions permitting’ we will just have to see what the year brings on that respect.
