Reliably informed

Ahead of performing with twinkly, folk-inspired band Dansi at Cluny 2 on Saturday 6th May, Wilf Stone, former curator of Alphabetti Soup, was kind enough to join us for a new Six Of The Best. So here are six things Wilf learnt from running Alphabetti Soup.

Time is never your friend! Always prepare as much as possible. You HAVE forgotten something.

The amount of unrealised talent in people from all walks of life in Newcastle is staggering and immensely inspirational.

Don’t be afraid to run a risk. Some of the best Soups I did had acts that I really wasn’t sure about but that turned out to be exceptional.

The performance community in Newcastle, for the most part, is essentially a geet big happy family that all love a drink or two…lush crowd to be involved with.

Try not to judge your audience too much. We never had a specific demographic for Alphabetti Soup. We just wanted to create an event that time and again delivered quality acts and that mindset has led to a regular audience mish mashed from all over the shop.

People are generally brilliant. Even the fucking weird ones.

Dansi play Cluny 2, Newcastle on Saturday 6th May.
