FILM England Is Mine @ Tyneside Cinema, Newcastle
Bigmouth strikes again in this unofficial biopic exploring the formative years of one of Britain’s most iconic artists, former frontman of The Smiths, Steven Patrick Morrissey. 

Wednesday 16th August
ART & LIT Away With The Birds @ BALTIC
Unusual vocal compositions and ethereal soundscapes combine in BALTIC’s intriguing exhibition from Finnish-English vocalist and artist Hanna Tuulikki, which runs at the Gateshead gallery until late September.

Thursday 17th August
ART & LIT Neil Hilborn @ Riverside, Newcastle
Neil Hilborn is the 26 year old Texas born slam poet who both writes and performs poetry. He is renowned for his poems which depicts both personal experiences and his battles with mental illness and other disorders.

Friday 18th August
MUSIC Hardwick Live @ Hardwick Hall, Sedgefield
Ska legends Madness, North East funk behemoths Smoove & Turrell, up and coming talent Tom Smith and ‘comedy rock lounge band’ The Lounge Kittens join Moseley’s finest, Ocean Colour Scene for two days of top music over Friday and Saturday.

Saturday 19th August
MUSIC Electric Wizard @ Riverside, Newcastle
Formed in Wimborne,Dorset, UK in 1993 in homage to vintage amplification, marijuana and Black Sabbath. Initially conceived as 1970s styled doom metal the sound quickly developed a more aggressive and heavier style drawing influences from early black metal, detroit garage, acid rock ,hardcore punk and even electronic music.

Sunday 20th August
COMEDY Elvis (Cal Halbert) Is In The Building @ The Stand, Newcastle
Comedian and impressionist Cal Halbert brings a new show dedicated to his idol Elvis Presley. The may not have a lot in common other than the sideburns, but expect a top show a filled with impressions, guests and a musical number or two.
