Stuck for something to do in the next seven days? We aim to have you covered with an event a day for the next week, all across the region. This time around we have influential ’80s metal, brilliantly silly comedy, a new film documentary and a whole lot more…

Monday 12th June
STAGE Between Stations @ ARC Stockton
Whether you’re a lover of words, Teesside or just fancy a night of great poetry: get ready to be whisked off on a journey of strange and gargantuan proportions. Poet Andy Willoughby is set to collaborate with ARC Stockton to present the full glory of his wondrous works live – for the first time ever – at Middlesbrough Central Library.

Tuesday 13th June
MUSIC Joseph J. Jones @ Think Tank Underground, Newcastle
Some artful songwriting for your Tuesday, as Joseph J. Jones brings his inventive sounds out on tour, with tracks that pack a real punch but still hold a tender, romantic edge.

Wednesday 14th June
STAGE Stand Up, Stand Up @ Northern Stage, Newcastle
A dark comedy, hilarious and heartbreaking in turns. A struggling comedian meets a frustrated bailiff with secret show-business dreams, forming an unlikely alliance that leads them on a life changing roller-coaster of an adventure neither was quite prepared for.

Thursday 15th June
MUSIC Voivod @ Riverside, Newcastle
With a discography of over thirty years to draw from, it’s likely that there’ll be something for the old fans and the even older fans to get down and creak along to, from one of the most influential metal bands of the ’80s.

Friday 16th June
ART & LIT REVEAL: Fine Art @ University Gallery, Northumbria University, Newcastle
REVEAL: Fine Art is a raw, exciting exhibition produced by our graduating Fine Art students, demonstrating an extremely high level of creative achievement. Each student cultivates an individual practice that is distinctively their own and reflects the diversity of contemporary ideas and culture, asks questions and provokes debate.

Saturday 17th June
FILM Whitey: Can I Be Me @ Tyneside Cinema
From acclaimed director Nick Broomfield (Kurt & Courtney, Biggie and Tupac) comes a new film about one of the greatest singers of all time. Whitney Houston was the epitome of superstar, an “American Princess,” the most awarded female artist ever. Even though Whitney had made millions of dollars, had more consecutive number ones than The Beatles, and became recognised as having one of the greatest voice of all time, she still wasn’t free to be herself and died at just 48 years old.

Sunday 18th June
COMEDY Seymour Mace – Makes It Up As He Goes Along @ The Stand, Newcastle
There’s no finer way to end the week than in the company of one of the best comedians around. Seymour Mace is set to offer up some brilliant daftness, with Ben Crompton and Liberty Hodes as guests on his new show where these funny folk rely only on the fact that they’re funny and anything could happen.

And for something a little different…
