It’s a known fact that Stockton does multi-venue music festivals with aplomb, so it’ll come as no surprise that the return of The Gathering Sounds festival, taking place across six venues in the town on Saturday 28th September, has a scorching line-up.
The festival made its debut last year, and is organised by the same lovely folks who brought you Stockton Calling, with over 30 bands performing across The Georgian Theatre, The Green Room, ARC, Ku Bar, The Storytellers and The Vault.
Headlining at ARC are sought-after indie band The Blinders, who perform alongside popsters Sophie & The Giants, MarthaGunn and ‘Boro’s very own disco punk sweethearts Be Quiet. Shout Loud! Over at The Georgian Theatre expect sets from Cardiff’s Buzzard Buzzard Buzzard, electronica artist Joe Garratt, post-punkers POZI, alt. hell-raisers Queen Zee, London rockers Social Contract and Middlesbrough fuzz rockers SWEARS. The Green Room takes things down a notch, with talented songwriter Georgie joining Arran George, Scott Lloyd and regional talent including Charlotte Grayson and Heather Story. Confirmed at Ku Bar are hotly-tipped post-punks Lady Bird, odd-popsters Head of Light Entertainment and new wave punks Talk Show; while at The Vault the line-up includes Giraffes, indie four-piece Luna The Professor, local supergroup Motel Carnation, Newcastle blues rockers Pink Tide, alt. punks The C33s and Blackburn rock ‘n’ rollers The Illicits. Noted national promoters This Feeling programme The Storytellers stage, ensuring a line-up of ‘see them before they’re massive’ performers.
