We get to know folk pop band Eddie & The Valkyries a little better…

So, tell us a bit about yourself and what you do?
Hi guys, we’re Eddie and the Valkyries. We’re a nice fun folk pop band from Stockton-on-Tees. We have Oliver Carlton (guitars and vocals), Patrick Reed (guitars) and Nathan Duff (drums). We like to make music you can dance to, drink to, have a good time to.

What’s the first record you ever bought?
I definitely tell everyone it’s international superhits by Green Day and my mum bought me it when I was ill from Savacentre in Stockton. Problem is it’s probably more likely to be something by Shaggy or Blue.

What’s your guilty pleasure musically?
It has to be Justin Timberlake. The man is a pure showbiz legend and he can’t do any wrong (apart from that weird Michael Jackson collab / Prince hologram thing). But I’m not really guilty about it.

Favourite film of all time?
Favourite film of all time = Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark. Nazis. Faces. Being. Melted. End of story. Made me want to become a history teacher.

Your guilty pleasure film?
I’m a big fan of the Bridget Jones series of films (Insert any romantic comedy). I also love Jane Eyre a lot.

If you could recommend one TV series to binge watch, what would it be?
Hell’s Kitchen – US edition. Kent Weed is the producer and he does a hell of a job.

Your favourite book?
Catch 22 – Joseph Heller. Just wow.

Who or what makes you laugh the most?
When you remember the game and you tell your mates that you remembered the game…

Who or what makes you sad?
Intolerance of other people makes me sad. We need to ensure that everyone has at least the freedom to be themselves without prejudice. Surely it’s the basis of any half decent society.

If you had super power, what would it be?
Patrick Reed’s would be stealth. He perfected it during Y9-Y11. Mine would be to have unlimited lighters. Everyone needs one.

And finally, you get to play a board game with any three famous people from history, who do you choose and what’s the board game?
Genghis Kahn, Emily Wilding Davison, Alan Turing – Hungry Hungry Hippos.
