North-East indie rock ‘n’ rollers The Strands follow up their recent single Wavey with their latest track Happy. This crunchy, head nod inducing track complete with hooks aplenty and vocals that switch from soulful to snarling was inspired by the craving the band have for live music and socialising. Speaking of which, The Strands will be performing a headline show at Independent, Sunderland on Saturday 18th September and will be taking part at Hit The North Festival on Saturday 23rd October.

Here the band tell us what their reality-defying dream show would look like…

Our dream show would be our very own festival, ‘STRAND-AID’, a live internationally televised event for charity. The day would kick off at the Stadium of Light, keeping native to our roots in Sunderland and paying respects to our local football club. Additionally, after seeing the atmosphere there when Foo Fighters came to the stadium in 2015, it was a no-brainer that this would be the venue for our dream show.

All tickets for this event will be completely free and available online 1 week before the festival. Donations will be encouraged during the televised event and the day will be presented by a range of celebrity hosts including Will Smith, Jim Carrey, Eddie Murphy and Miley Cyrus, to name a few.

Upon entry to the stadium, you will be greeted by the different aromas from our ‘Taste The World’ food court which includes some other favourites like McDonalds, KFC and Taco Bell. There’ll be plenty of refreshment stops available too with indoor/outdoor bars dotted around the ground so you’ll never be too far from a pint!

The legendary line-up will feature many influential artists such as The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, The Rolling Stones, The Who and Queen, alongside some more modern favourites like Arctic Monkeys, Oasis, The Strokes, The Hives and of course, The Strands. The full day will be an energy-filled extravaganza from start to finish, creating an unforgettable experience for everyone watching live and at home.

The night will be rounded off by the all-star hosts unveiling the final amount raised from ‘STRAND-AID’. Unbeknown to the hosts, Michael Jackson will then emerge from the stage to shock fans with a surprise medley of his greatest hits as a secret encore. WHAT A NIGHT!
