Newcastle funk/soul/hip-hop inspired music duo of Stesh (producer) and LKP (vocals), aka PSiMiTAR, are set to drop their latest single Skimming (out 19th March, pre-save it here).

Ahead of its release LKP tells us what their dream show would look like…

The dream PSiMiTAR show.… For me, it would be somewhere pretty spacious, plenty sky and sunshine, so probably not the UK, and with a beach, cos we would be playing this festival, and a lot of our music is pretty summery and chilled. I’m gonna go with Honolulu., Hawaii. Short flight for some of our esteemed guests to make from the West Coast of the U.S, and a proper amazing trek for anyone from Newcastle wanting to travel with us…

In terms of a line up, I’m thinking three stages. One DJ tent, one soul stage and one hip hop option. None of them too big, nothing more than a couple thousand, keep it intimate. I’d have Skratch Bastid, Jazzy Jeff, Buck Rogers, Complexion, EZ, Shortee Blitz, Santero, Dimitri From Paris, Volatile and a load more who have provided the soundtrack for me in 2020/21. I have discovered some absolutely class new music this year, so to see these guys rock it in the flesh to an actual crowd of people would be dope. The hip hop tent would probably have people like Mac Miller and Slum Village line up with JayDee (potentially a hologram show if this wasn’t a show with no limits) Little Brother, Jay Z, Smif-n-Wessun and a load more stuff to get people hyped. The soul stage would have people like Bill Withers, Kaytranada, Daniel Caesar, Jorja Smith, Anderson Paak, Brandy, Stevie Wonder, Michael McDonald… I’d have to fly some more UK acts over too, as we have to represent! Soul II Soul for sure.

Food wise, I’d have some food trucks at every stage, get that proper festival smell (no, not portaloos) with some world class tacos and some proper hipster rainbow bagels, cos you know, if the festival didnt happen on Instagram, then it may as well have never happened. There would be access to the best loos ever seen at any festival, as we have attended festivals together in the past, and would not want anyone to go through what our sense of smell went through at some of them.

Obviously, aesthetically, we would have the whole thing in pastel shades, with nice touches of fuschia and purple, just to make PSiMiTARfest fit in with all of our looks so far… I’m off to send some emails to see if we can pull any of this together… Although it may be Tynemouth Longsands to cut down on costs a bit…. It’s got me excited about any live shows in the future!
