DREAM SHOW – ODDKIN

Oddkin are an experimental art pop band comprised of Hollywood actor and multi-instrumentalist Ezra Miller and longtime collaborator Lilah Larson, they’ll be bringing their mesmerising live show to The Cluny on Tuesday 7^th December. Here, they fantasise about their dream show…

The venue is a monumental creaturely construction designed by Niki de Saint Phalle, windows and doors the orifices of this body – mouth, eyes, nipples, genitalia. Inside this fantastical body, the space and the lighting is designed by James Turrell and these portals are in fact oculi, part of his Skyspace works.

Since Niki de Saint Phalle is alive, so is Louise Bourgeois, and she has collaborated with Zanotta, makers of the original bean bag chair, to create large scale furniture that evokes intestines, organs, erogenous zones, and is most of all extremely comfortable. There are various designs, ensuring accessibility for everyone.

Our friend Christina Oakley Harrington, proprietress of Treadwell’s Bookshop in London, perhaps the greatest occult bookstore in the world, has created a proprietary incense blend for the event that somehow takes into account every individual’s spiritual needs and allergies. We couldn’t begin to imagine what it contains, you’d have to ask Christina.

The bathrooms are gender neutral, of course. Every possible safer sex need is provided there, as are narcan and test strips. Refreshingly, this event is not an excuse for venues to sell booze, it’s BYOWhatever, and everyone is smart, responsible, and respectful about and with their whatever. Great job everyone. Have fun!

There’s free food for all, considerate of all dietary restrictions, cooked by the folks from Asian American Bar-BQ, the roadside restaurant in Weed, CA, site of one of the best meals we’ve ever had.

We play for 35 minutes. This is the proper set time. Somehow in that time, we fit in a number of astounding guests, including but not limited to Pina Bausch, Tom Waits, Lil Nas X, Harpo Marx, David Byrne, Sappho, Bernice Johnson Reagon, Genesis P-Orridge, and Harry Styles.
