Reliably informed

On Friday 25th September the Playhouse in Whitley Bay will be one of the venues hosting the tour of this year’s Ocean Film Festival, where audiences will be able to explore the wonders of the deep blue without getting even a little bit wet. Originating in Australia, the festival will be featuring an array of the world’s most engaging and breathtaking short movies about the sea, all designed to mesmerise.

There are numerous highlights at this year’s festival, including Devocean, the story of South African Bruno who suffers series disabilities in an accident and the restorative powers that the ocean has lended to him. Meanwhile, Oceanminded follows champion freediver Hanli Prinsloo along the coasts of South Africa and Mozambique, the realm of deadly sharks. At the more quirky end of the spectrum, A Small Surfer will be looking at the story of Quincy Symonds, a native of Queensland, epic surfer, adrenaline junkie and six-year-old. There’s also so much more on offer, exploring every facet of what goes on above and below the waves!
