Josie Long is a performer totally at ease with herself, and the opening exchanges of her latest show Re-Enchantment felt like catching up with an old friend.

There was a lovely strand running through the show which touched on some of the more exciting updates she wanted to share. So for The Stand audience this meant plenty of jokes about new-born babies and lockdowns. The show wasn’t all quite so light-hearted and jovial, though, and Josie’s best work often comes when there is fire in her belly.

Josie’s latest show is particularly earnest; leaning heavily into the dire state of affairs we find ourselves in and taking aim at those responsible. Individual members of the Tory party get a kicking, as well as some of their more ghoulish pieces of legislation. Though as Keir Starmer is the butt of some of her more visceral gags, the show is oddly even-handed.

Aside from the obvious, that this is a very funny show delivered by a very funny comedian, Josie’s sincerity and obvious passion for this performance means that you should go out of your way to see it.
