Reliably informed

Newcastle, DJ/producer and musician Michael Walls has been making a bit of a name for himself as of late. Having held residencies at House of Smith and Tup Tup Palace, he has since gone on to establish himself on the DJ circuit around the world and has become a household name in the UK club scene.

All this success attracted label attention and Michael signed to Parlophone/FFRR (originally founded by Pete Tong) who have a heritage of releasing cutting-edge records from artists that span the dance music spectrum. On 9th July Michael released Fallin’ (his first single on the label), a melodic, feel good house anthem Fallin’ which has gone on to do very well on various streaming sites.

Here we catch up with the talented DJ to find out about his top five house tracks…

As clubs and venues are opening again in the UK, what better time to celebrate house music and club culture and so I have picked my five favourite tracks of all time.

Grant Nelson – Fade (Grant Nelson Big Room Remix)

This record has such a feel good vibe to it, and is one of my summer favourites. The beach and summer influence really helps make this sound even better in the sun. Classic house strings, an emotive vocal and great keys, this really ticks all the boxes for me.

Alison Limerick – Where Love Lives

This track has legendary status written all over it, a real classic house gem. When you hear the keys riff you know exactly what record it is. The track was also mixed by David Morales & Frankie Knuckles, so it certainly is something very special.

David Guetta – When Love Takes Over (feat. Kelly Rowland)

When this dropped in 2009 it was one of the first records that planted the seed with dance music for me. It’s just a great uplifting house track that still gets a great reaction on the dance floor over 10 years on.

Bicep – Glue

Whenever this gets played out the response is amazing. I saw Bicep drop this in 2017 at Rise Festival in the French Alps and the emotion in the club was so powerful. It’s a real reflective record that brings with it a massive sense of togetherness.

BURNS – Talamanca

I haven’t actually heard this is a club yet but cannot wait until I do, especially in Ibiza. This is going to be one of those records that every DJ has in their arsenal! It’s certainly my 2021 song of the summer.
