Sunderland-based artist Eugene Schlumberger launches two exhibitions at Pop Recs Ltd, Sunderland on Thursday 16th February
Photographer, artist and Sunderland resident Eugene Schlumberger brings not one, but two exhibitions to Pop Recs, Sunderland.
These are his first shows since the publication last year of the book Hacienda Landscapes, which he made in collaboration with the designer of The Hacienda, Ben Kelly, and Factory Records’ graphic designer Peter Saville.
(I Second That) Emotion is a collection of work made in direct response to the music and lyrics Schlumberger loves and in a reversal of the rapper, Oddisee’s album title, People Hear What They See, he sees reflected in the environment, the essence of the music he listens to.
Fenestration, is a series of photographs shot through windows to reflect Schlumberger’s frequent sensation of being slightly detached from the moment as if experiencing the world from behind a pane of glass, which after lockdown, is something we can all relate to.
These shows are the first in a series planned by Pop Recs and tion to showcase work by local, national and international artists.
The exhibition launches on Thursday 16th February with an open evening taking place between 7-9pm.
