I Can’t Help Thinking About You is an apt name to describe the weeping string lament on the opening track to this memorable debut album by Wolf House. By the time of its reprise on the penultimate track it is a motif that has you firmly and indelibly ensnared. Is My Lonely is the all-instrumental electronic long player by Alex Ross, co-producer of the wonderful Beccy Owen among many and varied musical projects.

It is about atmosphere, quirk and form. Light and shade, tranquility and musicality. It’s post-industrial but never shy of a tune and there is a stark, longing, lonely beauty here. There’s a nod towards acts like Propellerheads and a beguiling recognition of the importance of good drums. Haunting.
