My only regret about agreeing to review W.H Lung’s debut album was that 120 words was nowhere near enough in which to do it justice. Musical taste is subjective, but the objective quality of the Manchester group’s maiden record can’t be ignored.

The band have been on my radar since they released Inspiration, which forms the cornerstone of a quite exceptional slab of psychedelic indie. The hype around the track was such that festivals started booking them before they’d played a single show. Simpatico People is a slow-burning opener which sinks its musical hooks into you before a lyrical onslaught, “Pregnant with the future, impregnated by the past”. The album starts well and never once looks back. Remember the name.
