Gearbox Records

Released: 03.07.20

Post-truth, neoteric, Brazilian-seasoned funky jazz rock, with an acute edginess in both sound and sentiment. No Wave legend Arto Lindsay assisted Thiago Nassif with the writing, production, vocals and instrumentation on this his fourth album, along with a whole host of talented artists’ contributions from an exciting emerging interdisciplinary alternative scene in Brazil.

Plástico is one of several stand out tracks on this complex release, mixing traditional rhythmic percussion in an altogether modern dystopian Tropicálian expression. The Portuguese title of the album has a dual meaning: ‘mind’ and ‘to lie’ – perfectly illustrating Thiago’s outlook living in such exasperating times, and can be seen as a reflection of the mantra that from chaos great creativity will emerge.
