Paul Broadhead reviews the cracking sophomore release from the San Francisco alt. rockers
Released: 17.11.17
The She’s are a…well, you can work that bit out yourselves, from San Francisco and the album’s title gives an indication of a band who are sick of labels. As too does the music, its roots grounded in the old school garage rock ‘n’ roll of opener Death Dreams but often experimental; never more so than on the feisty I Am The Walrus homage, Ashes.
They’re at their best when they keep it simple, like on the Juliana Hatfield-esque alternapop of Lie Again and although the album strays a little in the middle, falling slightly flat with two instrumentals, the peculiar jam of Sorry finds a band enjoying themselves in the studio and perfectly in tune with each other. Delightful.
