Lee Hammond discovers a genre-hopping album from The Paranoyds
Third Man Records
Released: 09.09.22
Talk Talk Talk, the sophomore album from LA quintet The Paranoyds really sees the band pushing themselves. This genre-hopping record rarely gives you time to settle before another swift gear change. Opening with BWP, it slowly builds before crashing into Lizzie which fosters a more upbeat fuzz-pop tone, and the album manoeuvres easily through punk, grunge and synth pop.
There’s one overriding constant that really sets Talk Talk Talk apart, and that’s the catchy lyrics. Before the end of most tracks, you’ll find yourself chanting along with the band, it’s an instant record. What it lacks in coherence it certainly makes up for in immediacy, it’s a record that will remain an earworm long after it has finished.
