Suicide Squeeze

Opening with a refreshing furore The Coathangers mark their return in typically brilliant fashion. This record is more measured in comparison to older albums, even at their most raucous The Coathangers have everything under control. The way in which Julia Kugel and Stephanie Luke’s voices compliment each other is perfect throughout, Stranger Danger being the perfect example of this. Luke’s harsher tones tempered by Kugel’s sweeter sound.

However, both successfully channel their anger in exquisite style during F The NRA, this fervent track fuelled by driving guitar and thumping drums. The sombre end to the record shows a different facet of their measured sound, there’s a real darkness but it retains the ferocity that is demonstrated throughout this exceptional record.
