What was composer Ryan Lott’s solo act has transformed into a transcendent musical ensemble, thanks to the additions of guitarist Rafiq Bhatia and drummer Ian Chang. This trio, all of them writers and producers in their own right, combine to create music which defies classification.

Son Lux fuses everything from electronica, alt. rock, hip-hop and pop until they are all but unrecognisable. Each song is cinematic, building worlds from personal experiences; lead single Dream State deals with the realisation that any day can be a day of firsts or lasts, slowly building from almost whispered lyrics and minimal electronic backing into a crescendo of surrealist pop.

Brighter Wounds deserves unbound attention, as with every repeated listen, deeper meaning and passion are uncovered.
