Sinkane – fronted by Ahmed Gallab –  return after a two-year gap with a predominantly electronic new album that always has Gallab’s lineage as a producer at the fore, though the influences are so wide reaching it’s tough to pin down.

Time spent in sub-Saharan Africa has given Sinkane’s music a rich Afro-Arab tinge, and Gallab’s time working with Caribou’s Dan Snaith before the inception of the band is as good an apprenticeship as anyone could wish for. Lead single Uh-Huh is undoubtedly the standout track, but don’t be surprised to hear everything else on this album drifting across festival fields all over the country by summer time. Life and Living It is a diverse, funky and uplifting record.
