A collaboration built on mutual adoration makes for an enthralling and visceral slab of introspective electronic bliss. The duo of Gold Panda (Derwin Schlecker) and Simian Mobile Disco’s Jas Shaw had been meaning to make this record for nearly a decade, but both found themselves hampered by intensive schedules.

This was disrupted, unfortunately, by Shaw’s sudden diagnosis with AL amyloidosis, which saw SMD cancel their 2018 touring duties. In the downtime he had between receiving chemotherapy, Shaw pushed to make the mythical album become a reality: “Selling was made for fun, really as an excuse to get Derwin to come to my house and drink tea”.

However, the record is far from a compilation of loose jams… more a heartfelt tribute to a majestic kinship, from the engrossing choppiness of Mirror Can Only Lie to the sombre up-tempo arpeggios of You Can Have It Immediately, the record brims with spontaneous energy and life. An engrossing wonderland.
