Having been quietly releasing their work direct to fans outside of the trappings of the industry for the last decade, Ruby Throat – the current project of KatieJane Garside, formerly of Daisy Chainsaw and Queenadreena – have tentatively moved towards the limelight with the release of career-spanning compilation Stone Dress.

Focusing on hushed, hypnotic alt. folk arrangements, the aesthetic that Garside and Chris Whittingham have developed derives from both deliberate restraint and unavoidable constraint, but the consistent quality and tonality of their records to date make this a well flowing introduction. The title track remains their finest, but from the hymnal ambiance of In The Arms of Flowers to the blues-polka of Also Elizabeth, Daughter Of The Above, these twelve selections all beguile.
