Concrète Tapes

Released: Out Now

Preston’s Concrète Tapes has been quietly releasing some great music for half a decade now and this new album from Holmes is a surprisingly fine addition to the catalogue. Five years in the making and clearly the result of some intense studio tinkering, some of these tracks are barely more than intriguing sketches, or potential soundtrack cues for some sort of film noir sci-fi flick.

There’s a wide range of styles at play here, but crucially it hangs together in a really satisfying manner. Among the standout tracks are Paradise Club, which is a smoky, moody gem, and Hollenfells, a languid, aquatic affair that drifts by beautifully, while Theme For Recovery is a close relation to Blanck Mass’ Chernobyl. This is definitely worth your time.
