As remarkable as Rattle’s 2016 debut album was, it did make me wonder how much further the Nottingham duo could go with such a limited palette (literally just drums, percussion and voices).

I needn’t have worried: emboldened by excellent reviews and a run of impressive live shows, what Katherine and Theresa have done is stretch out, taking the template of the debut and extending each piece to the 10 minute mark, so that each of the four tracks becomes ritualistic and meditative, music to entirely lose yourself in. Each of the tracks emphasises a different aspect of their sound, and at times it’s like listening to some especially powerful jazz with almost everything stripped away, dubwise. This is brave and inspiring stuff.
