Robin Webb reviews the new release from the Holland-based indie punk noise-meisters
Fire Records
Released: 29.01.21
This is the self-proclaimed difficult third album from Holland-based indie punk noise-meisters Rats on Rafts, which has taken them five years to complete and plays very much like a concept album where tracks combine and fuse into each other as the interwoven tale of their chambered lives unfolds on our psyche.
The current single release Tokyo Music Experience is one of the more commercial numbers, and was inspired by the band’s experiences of clamorous Eastern existence while on tour in Japan with Franz Ferdinand. It fits perfectly into a release thoughtfully animated by a myriad of experiences over the years, fashioning this modern new wave collection of gems imbued with the experimental 80’s, Scott Walker, reverb soaked guitars and pop culture.
