Featuring members of Male Bonding and Sauna Youth, on paper this should be an epic display of DIY power and intensity. However, Primitive Parts are significantly more pedestrian, as they predominantly blend psychedelia with 60’s garage pop that sometimes strays towards bad Blur covers. Rented Houses bucks this trend with its urgent beat and intense vocals, they’re all too quick to return to the monotonous sound though.

Dusts provides a late attempt at salvaging the record, with its energetic bright guitars and sing along vocals. Yet it’s all too little too late, and Parts Primitive lacks the attention grabbing nature of the sum of its parts; it’s a very safe album that suffers from the absence of angst and grit.
