Released: 01.03.19

The eagerly anticipated follow up to The Weather, Pond’s Tasmania is a much more polished affair. Fostering a sound not dissimilar to former band mates Tame Impala, as well as Unknown Mortal Orchestra and at times Mac DeMarco. It lacks the immediacy and grandiose fervour of The Weather, instead it is packed with blissed out disco-infused psychedelia.

Sixteen Days and The Boys Are Killing Me epitomise the sound of the record, there’s a hazy sultry tone that is twinned with swirling synths. Tasmania has moments of brilliance but overall it lacks the hooks and excitement that Pond previously possessed. They’ve taken any rough edges which they previously had and completely smoothed them out beyond recognition, leaving Tasmania a lifeless record.
