Heist or Hit

If anyone thought the 80s pop culture resurgence was going to be winding down any time soon, Pizzagirl is here to remove that notion entirely on his first full length – the suitably titled first timer.

A DIY artist through-and-through, the lower-case loving Pizzagirl’s cut-and-paste nature is a valuable attribute. Album opener ball’s gonna keep on rollin’ is basically structured with a repetitive beat and melody, but the overlaying vocals manipulate the tune into a well-structured, nostalgically futuristic pop song. dennis combines a jovial tune, primary school age rhyming couplets, and relatively macabre lyrics to make for an unnervingly enjoyable track. I’m not sure exactly what Pizzagirl is doing, but his formula has worked this far so who am I to argue?
