Gothenburg’s Tuva Lodmark and Nelly Daltrey are an act that prove the girls rock out better than the boys. Finding the perfect balance between dreamy indie and shoegaze, building momentum to big rock riffs and infectious pop songs, this is one of the best debut’s you’ll hear this year. Stand-out track Desert is lazy sunshine haze, where miss-hit strings sound even better than those placed with care and delicacy. A simple synth refrain builds towards an epic finale of lush orchestration. It’s one of the best songs of the year. Which isn’t to say it’s the only one here. Single Youth is kick-ass and full of femininity, as is Fish, breathing life into the tired verse-chorus-verse formula. Cracking stuff.
