Australian musician Olivia Bartley, along with long-time collaborator Burke Reid, releases her sophomore album as Olympia. This is a bouncy collection of songs about the human condition and relationships. Rather than feeling morose, it is a jolly kick about. Even a song about calling out someone’s lies, like Hounds, bounds along with energy and vigour.

Flamingo is clearly a personal set of songs for Bartley, but the urgent melodies intertwined around the angst makes it both an accessible and enjoyable trip for the listener and serves as proof that the art of the catchy three-minute pop song is alive and well down under.
