Brooklyn based guitarist and composer Sarah Lipstate has already released a plethora of albums under her solo guitar guise Noveller, but on her eighth album A Pink Sunset For No One, she’s emerged with perhaps the greatest crystallisation of her art to date.

Although the album also incorporates occasional splashes of percussion and piano into its textures, the focus remains on Lipstate’s sublime playing and unique use of tone, alternately direct and playful as on Rituals and ethereal and other-wordly as on the beautiful opener Deep Shelter. The meditative, transporting qualities of her work come to the fore on closing duo The Unveiling and Emergence, which reach deep inside themselves to find a place for well-earned peace and reflection.
