No wave protagonists and legends of the Toronto alternative scene New Fries present their new album after a four year wait, and being a synthesiser player down has meant no lessening of the three piece’s expansive experimental sound.

Several mainline tunes are given full rein whilst interspersed are dissonant ‘genre’ titled vignettes begging to be expanded, only we find them curtailed and buttressed up against or ‘transitioned’ into other insurgent incessant grooves and echoing rhythmic constructions. Lily, the longest track at just over six minutes, is awash in electronic delay and rings out as a highlight in this collection of perplexing sonic formations. Ably assisted throughout by Carl Didur (ex U.S. Girls) this is a remarkable release in their rather unique canon.
