Meatraffle’s new album, Bastard Music, feels extremely well produced. This is a strange contrast to the vocals that sound straight out of a seventies punk band; complete with the politically charged, anti-establishment lyrics.

These lyrics do cut through the songs well, an intentional choice surely, given that the album is evidently message driven. Heavy in bassy tones, and containing some really cool musical surprises, the songs are united by their rhythmic theme. Though some of rhythmic aspects can develop into a mild monotony, the tedium is ignorable. There is an undeniable power to this release, and Meatraffle fans are getting what they want from it; a unique sound, tight instrumentals and a message worth hearing.
