Named after a tractor, Massy Ferguson’s fifth record finds them ploughing the fields of country and college rock on tracks like opener Can’t Remember, recalling the bar-band sleaze of The Hold Steady and combining them with Springsteen-esque blue collar tales on tender ballads such as Wolf Moon. Drop An Atom Bomb On Me explodes with the kind of country blues that Lucero do so well whilst Maybe The Gods featuring fellow Seattle resident Adra Boo’s soulful vocal is right out of Nashville.

Stand-out track Momma’s In The Backseat is a mish mash of all of the above with a little Johnny Cash-style spoken word thrown in for good measure. For a cautionary tale, it’s incredibly uplifting and simply brilliant.
