This is Rose’s first release with Communion and It’s a switch that makes sense – Rose’s folk pop is more suited to life away from the majors. Quietly funky and delicate throughout, it’s everything you’d expect. Floral Dresses is the standout track, an overtly feminine exploration of what it is to be a woman featuring The Staves on backing vocals in a juxtaposition of fragility and strength that’s refreshingly self-assured.

Rose has developed her sound with this record – Morai and I Can’t Change it All are certainly more restrained and whilst this isn’t new territory for Rose, there’s a quiet confidence compared to her debut. This album is made of the same stuff but put together with more authority and purpose.
