Hot on the heels of their anguished Scandinavian blood brothers Iceage, Danish trio Less Win create the type of rigid, greyscale post-punk that you often find in those colder European regions.
Compared to the band’s previous output, Trust is a tame introduction – deploying measured doses of broken brass and guitars that sound like they’re being strangled. Less Win have more charm and character when they ease off the gas a bit – Mare drags along scuppered drums and spacious piano chords to the edge of a cliff and teases all-out destruction, whilst Haunted Skin cuts to the chase and unfurls its thrash punk banner with pride.
Trust’s cathartic chaos is underpinned by a strong eye for aural detail and melodic sentiment, giving it an edge over its post-punk peers.
