Kill It Kid have the potential to be a very good band but on this, their third record, they haven’t quite nailed it. They’ve two great singers in their cannon but too often shoot themselves in the foot with the same old blues-rock-by-numbers stomps. Two of the highlights, Caroline and Tried Used Loved Abused, slow things down and allow a little femininity into the mix, but for every one of these, there’s a I’ll Be The First, all chest-hair sincerity and dominant bass-lines, providing nothing new. That closer Law Of Love sounds out of place and is the album’s best track, speaks volumes. But what they do, KIK do well, and this energetic offering should further their fan-base.
